Marshmallow Beta Launches On OnePlus X

Following the release of OxygenOS 2.2.2 on OnePlus X earlier this month, OnePlus has officially announced the latest software update coming to its 2016 mid-range smartphone, OxygenOS 3.1.0 Community Build, offering users a taste of Android Marshmallow.

OxygenOS 3.1.0 Community Build, which is a beta build that's based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, features:

  • Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow goodies like Doze battery saving, App Permissions, and built-in fingerprint support
  • Launcher upgrades including new icon packs, Google search bar UI customization, and new wallpaper picker
  • Shelf UX improvements like Long press boards to rearrange or remove
  • Settings changes including new (native Android) app permissions, and new Alert Slider settings with more customization options
  • New apps including OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery
  • August 1 security patches for Android
  • General system performance improvement
Reminder: This build supports dirty flashing, but there is always a risk of losing personal data, so it is recommended to Backup any important data before proceeding. Rolling back to previous official OxygenOS builds will require a clean flash, which will wipe personal data.
