How To Force Windows 10 Anniversary Update

With the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is the second big update since the launch of Microsoft's latest and greatest Windows OS, now rolling out around the world in phases starting with the newer machines first, some users may not get it immediately and have to wait a few days before the update reaches their machines.

Fortunately, there is a way to force the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to be installed on your Windows 10-based computer, and all you have to do is:

  • Go to Settings > Updates & Security > Windows Update
  • In Windows Update simply click Check for Updates
  • The Anniversary Update will appear as, Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607. Click update and the update will begin downloading and installing
However, if Windows Update says that your machine is up to date and can't find the Feature update to Windows 10, you can manually install it by simply following these simple steps:
  • Go to Settings > Updates & Security > Windows Update
  • Click the "Learn more" just below the "Looking for info on the latest updates?" In Windows Update
  • From there you’ll be taken to a support page on Microsoft.com that will allow you to download the ISO file to your PC
  • Just follow the instruction given by Windows 10 Update Assistant
  • Once Windows 10 Anniversary Update installed, you should be running Windows 10 Version 1607
That is it, you can now enjoy all the latest Windows 10 features such as Windows Ink, smarter Cortana a faster, more accessible and more power-efficient Microsoft Edge browser, advanced security features, new gaming experiences and much more.
