Android 7.0 Nougat Officially Launched


Google has officially released its latest and greatest mobile operating system, as well as the latest member joining the Android OS family, Android 7.0 Nougat, delivering a successor to last year's Android 6.0 Marshmallow that offers " sweet features never before seen on mobile".

Android 7.0 Nougat brings some new features as well as other enhancements like:

  • Over 1,500 different emoji built into Android, including 72 new ones
  • Quick Settings controls with access to things like bluetooth, WiFi and flashlight
  • Multi-locale support - Apps can tailor their content based on your locale settings like search engines showing results in multiple languages
  • Multi-window support with the ability to run two apps side-by-side
  • Direct Reply - Reply directly to notifications without having to open any app
  • Switch between your two most recently used apps by simply double tapping the Overview button
  • Improved battery saving feature with Doze on the Go
  • Vulkan API support with next-generation graphics
  • Daydream - Enjoy your favorite apps in virtual reality
  • Seamless updates with the ability to install software updates in the background
  • File-based encryption - Android Nougat can better isolate and protect files for individual users on your device
  • Direct Boot - Helps your device startup faster, and apps run securely even before you unlock your device when your device reboots
Android 7.0 Nougat is now rolling out to all Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and Pixel C as a free update.
