WhatsApp Dropping Older Phones Support
Following the announcement of WhatsApp Going Free For All six weeks ago, the Facebook-owned proprietary cross-platform instant messaging service has officially revealed that WhatsApp will no longer support older devices such as Nokia and BlackBerry.
WhatsApp Messenger will be terminating its support for the older mobile platforms, which according to the company does't offer the capabilities they need to expand their app's features in the future, including:
- BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
WhatsApp will be dropping support for older phones by the end of 2016, while users who are still rocking one of the listed phone are recommended to upgrade to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone device.
