Skype Universal Windows Platform App Officially Announced

Following the announcement of Skype for Web getting Calls support earlier last week, Microsoft is back once again with some pretty exciting new and has announced that the company will soon be introducing a Universal Windows Platform App of its video chat and voice call service called Skype UWP App.

The first version of Skype Universal Windows Platform App will be featuring:
  • Sign in with your Microsoft Account and link a Skype ID
  • Show and change your availability
  • See a list of your existing Skype contacts
  • Initiate a chat with anyone in your contact list
  • See that the other person is typing
  • The ability to logout
  • Make one-to-one voice and video calls and send messages
  • Personalize your experience with emoticons and Mojis
  • Send photos
  • See notifications for incoming calls and messages outside of the app
  • Participate in existing group chats
The Skype Universal Windows Platform App will be available first to Windows Insiders on PC, while the Skype UWP Preview app is expected to begin rolling out in the coming weeks.
