Microsoft Edge Extensions Support Officially Announced

Following the leaked Microsoft Edge Extensions preview page earlier this week, Microsoft has officially announced that its modern and all-new web browser will now begin supporting Extensions, allowing users to personalize and add new features to Microsoft Edge.

Since Microsoft Edge Extensions support is still in early stages, only Windows insider will be able to try it out in order to "ensure the quality of the end-to-end experience". The first Microsoft Edge Extensions will be featuring:

  • Microsoft Translator extension - Automatically translates pages in over 50 different languages
  • Mouse Gestures extension - Allows customers to perform basic browsing tasks by right-clicking and then gesturing with the mouse
  • Early preview version of the popular Reddit Enhancement Suite (RES) - Enhances your Reddit browsing experience
To download Microsoft Edge Extensions, Windows Insiders need to follow these simple instructions:
  • Open the Microsoft Edge browser
  • Scroll down and select the extension you want to download
  • Select Run from the download notification
  • Click the "..." button to open the menu
  • Select extensions and hit the load extensions button
  • Select your extension from the download folder and hit the select folder button
  • The downloaded extension will now be enabled and displayed on the list of installed extension
  • Done !!!
Microsoft Edge Extensions support is now rolling out to Windows Insider on the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview Build. Although, once the extensions support becomes available to the public, users will be able to download them directly from the Windows Store, with more popular extensions to be added later on.
