Google Releases Android N Developer Preview

With Google I/O 2016 event only couple months away, where the company is expected to reveal its latest and greatest mobile operating system, Google has decided to go ahead and release an early build of the upcoming Android N, to developers for download and testing.

Android N Developer Preview brings some new features as well as other enhancements such as:

  • App drawer still available
  • Built-in Multi-Window support for phones and tablets in both portrait and landscape mode
  • The ability to reply to incoming message notifications quickly and conveniently, without leaving the notification shade
  • Notifications from the same app will now be grouped together, and can be expanded into individual notifications
  • The Doze battery saving feature now additionally saves battery whenever the screen turns off
  • New quick setting animation and customization
  • New quick toggles when swiping once from the top (similar to TouchWiz)
  • New setting UI with suggestions
  • Improved Java 8 language support 
  • Under-the-hood enhancements
Reminder: Android N Developer Preview is considered a "work in progress" build, and it is not recommended for daily use or consumer use.

Android N Developer Preview is now available to download on Nexus 5X, 6, 6P, 9, 9G, Nexus Player, and Pixel C. Although, users can also get OTA updates by singing up to the Android Beta Program.
