Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition Pre-order Announced

Following the announcement of the Microsoft HoloLens one year ago, Microsoft has officially revealed the latest update coming to its fully untethered holographic computer, including the Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition pre-orders and pricing.

The Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition will be featuring:
  • Fully untethered and self-contained headset
  • Custom-built Microsoft Holographic Processing Unit (HPU) and an Intel 32-bit architecture
  • See-through holographic lenses with advanced optical projection system
  • Built-in cameras with the ability to record mixed reality captures including HD pictures and videos
  • "Optimal" holographic density of 2.5K radiants
  • Bluetooth 4.1 with support for accessories
  • Powered by Windows 10 with a familiar interface 
According to Microsoft " Today represents a monumental step forward. This is the first step in our journey to consumers. A step focused on our commercial partnerships and on supporting developers, who will help pave the way to consumer availability with amazing and new holographic experiences".

The Microsoft HoloLens Development Edition will be available to pre-order starting today for
$3000, while the holographic computer will begin shipping March 30 in North America and Canada.

Microsoft
