Google Launches New Android Wear Update

Following the launch of the last Android Wear update which introduced Cellular date support, Google has announced the latest update coming to its wearable-designed OS, including the expansion of its hands-free options.

The new Android Wear update features:

  • Navigate your watch with new gestures - Push, lift, or shake will now expand cards, bring up apps, or return home
  • Send more messages with just your voice - You can now send voice messages from apps like Google Hangouts, Nextplus, Telegram, Viber, WeChat, and WhatsApp
  • Make calls and listen to messages with speaker support - You can now make and take calls over Bluetooth, and listen to audio/video messages with apps like Glide
Reminder: to take full advantage of the new speaker feature, you need a watch with a speaker such as Huawei Watch and the ASUS ZenWatch 2 (49mm).

The new Android Wear update will begin rolling out as a free update to all Android Wear watches over the next few weeks.
