Apple Releases Updated iOS 9.2.1 With Error 53 Fix

Following the launch of iOS 9.2.1 to the public one month ago, the company has officially released an updated of that same version of iOS 9, iOS 9.2.1 build number 13D15, which brings a fix to the "Error 53" that disabled iOS devices serviced by third-party repair shops.

To bring your bricked iPhone or iPad device to life due to Error 53, all you have to do is:

  • Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes
  • Force restart your device by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo
  • Try to restore your device again
  • Done !!
Reminder: If you still see error 53 when you try to restore your device, contact Apple Support. If the restore won't finish and you see a different error code, learn what to do.

Hopefully after following these instruction you bricked iOS device will now be back to life, and any future third-party repairs will not fully disable it. Unfortunately, the Touch ID will not work until you take your device to an Apple-authorized repair shop.
