AMD Reveals VR Ready CPUs


With the Oculus Rift as well as the HTC Vive launch dates only few weeks away, AMD is the latest to join the virtual reality party by announcing its very own VR Ready processors, offering users even more choices to build their VR Ready PC.

The AMD VR Ready CPUs include:

  • FX-9590 Octa-core processor @ 4.7GHz/5.0GHz with AM3+ Socket 
  • FX-9370 Octa-core processor @ 4.4GHz/4.7GHz with AM3+ Socket
  • FX-8370 Octa-core processor @ 4.0GHz/4.3GHz with AM3+ Socket
  • FX-8350 Octa-core processor @ 4.0GHz/4.2GHz with AM3+ Socket
  • FX-6350 Hexa-core processor @ 3.9GHz/4.2GHz with AM3+ Socket
  • A10-7890K* Quad-core processor @ 4.1GHz/4.3GHz with FM2+ Socket
  • A10-7870K Quad-core processor @ 3.9GHz/4.1GHz with FM2+ Socket
  • Athlon X4 880K* Quad-core processor @ 4.0GHz/4.2GHz with FM2+ Socket
  • Athlon X4 870K Quad-core processor @ 3.9GHz/4.1GHz with FM2+ Socket
Unfortunately, the company has released an update stating that "currently only FX parts have been tested to run VR at this time", while the the Athlon and APUs are not "qualified", with an updated list of compatible VR processors to be released later on.
