Samsung Releases New Gear S2 Firmware Update


Following the announcement of the Samsung Gear S2 about twelve weeks ago, the company's latest and greatest wearable product, Samsung has officially released a new software update, build number R732XXU2BOKF, offering wearers of the round smartwatch some new features as well as other improvements.

The new Gear S2 Firmware Update includes:

  • New "Add Template" option when scrolling right on the watchfaces menu, which lets you choose from the watchfaces that can be stylized and make a new face from
  • New 'Auto open apps" that will open apps once you stop rotating the ring on them
  • New alert option to notifies you through vibration when disconnected from your phone
  • New screen timeout option, which includes 15 secs, 30 secs, 1 min, and 5 minutes
  • New orange notification indicator (Only works if you don't have notifications set to automatically turn on your screen)
  • When you swipe up to dismiss a notification, a trash can will be displayed
  • The emoji symbol has been replaced with a circle happy face when replying to a notification 
  • When reading text of a notification, double tapping the screen will make the font larger 
  • "Add Widget" under the + symbol when you scroll all the way right
  • New added apps including world clock, Starbucks, Korean navigation app, and the flipboard news briefing app
  • New added watchfaces including the ones shown at the initial unveiling
The Gear S2 Firmware Update is now rolling out in Korea, while other markets are expected to get it soon.
