Microsoft Launches New Windows 10 Mobile Insiders Preview Build

Following the launch of Windows 10 Mobile Insiders Preview Build 10581 about three weeks ago, Microsoft has officially released a brand new build of Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 10 Mobile Insiders Preview Build 10586, to Windows Insiders for download and testing.

Windows 10 Mobile Insiders Preview Build 10586 features bug fixes and general improvements including:

  • An issue that caused the Start experience to become corrupted (garbled) after upgrading and restoring a backup from a phone that had a different resolution has been fixed
  • You should now be able to set your default save locations via Settings > System > Storage, and it will correctly reflect the current storage settings
  • Your SD card should no longer show up as a garbled name in Storage settings
  • Moving apps to a SD card should no longer cause those apps to crash
  • The Messaging + Skype app has been improved
  • Less resuming/loading text when switching apps
  • The physical camera button should be working again if it wasn’t working for you before
  • Apps and games should download from the Store more reliably
Reminder: Due to a bug on Build 10581, insiders who made a factory reset on that build will cause their phone to go into a reboot loop after upgrading to Build 10586. So it is important to back up your data before installing the new build, and then use the hardware key combination to reset your phone and recover it once the installation is finished.

Windows 10 Mobile Insiders Preview Build 10586 is now available through Windows Update, as part of the company's Fast Ring build program.
