New Blackberry Priv Details Revealed

Following the official confirmation of Blackberry Priv couple weeks ago, derStandard has managed to get their hands on a preproduction unit of the Blackberry Priv, revealing some new details about the company's upcoming and much anticipated Android-powered smartphone.

According to derStandard, the Blackberry Priv will be featuring 5.4-inch Quad-HD (2560 x 1440) display, Snapdragon 808 64-bit Octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, microSD card, 18MP shooter with OIS and 5MP front-facing camera, up to 1 to 1,5 days of battery life, and Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The phone will come with a slightly curved screen, physical keyboard with QWERTY layout that's integrated via a slider mechanism, navigation button which brings up the selection menu for the onscreen keyboard, pre-loaded with some the company's own apps including Blackberry messenger and safe guard, 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC.

According to derStandard "Will Blackberry make a comeback as a relevant player on the smartphone market? Probably not. The company has failed to get a hold of the mass market with BB OS 10. And the Android-powered Priv is tailored to a specific market segment rather than meant to attract a broad audience".

The Blackberry Priv is expected to be released sometime this Fall or early 2016. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on pricing.
