Apple Officially Releases OS X El Capitan


Following the release of OS X El Capitan GM three weeks ago, Apple has officially launched the final build of OS X El Capitan to the public, OS X El Capitan 10.11 build number 15A284, delivering "the latest major release of the world’s most advanced desktop operating system".

OS X El Capitan builds on the features and design of OS X Yosemite, with a refined experience and an improved performance including:

  • A streamlined Mission Control that makes it easier to see and organize your content
  • New Split View feature that automatically positions two app windows side-by-side in full screen 
  • Spotlight now supports natural language and Search results from more sources
  • The ability to pin sites and mute audio from any tab
  • Photos now supports locations editing , batch change descriptions, sort albums by date or title, and third-party editing extensions
  • Improved system performance, with accelerated Core Animation and Core Graphics
  • Enhanced international language support
OS X El Capitan is now available as a free update through the Mac App Store for all Macs introduced in 2009 and later, as well as some models from 2007 and 2008.
