Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 Insider Preview Build

Following the launch of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10532 about one month ago, Microsoft has officially released a brand new build of Windows 10, Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10547, to Windows Insiders for download and testing.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10547 includes new features such as:

  • The ability to have a 4th column in the Start menu, and support for up to 2048 tiles
  • The ability to snap apps to left and right, replace a previously snapped app with another,and swipe down to close an app in Tablet mode
  • Many app updates including Photos app, Xbox app, Groove, Mail, Calendar, and Maps
  • The ability to turn off the Windows background picture in the sign-in screen
  • preview of Object RTC in Microsoft Edge for devs that enables real-time audio and video communications in Microsoft Edge without plugins
  • Text input panel improvements
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10547 also features bug fixes such as:
  • A lot of the underlying causes of the critical error dialog Insiders were seeing with Start has been fixed, and search should work more consistently now when interacting with Start
  • The notification icon for Action Center should no longer light up even though there weren’t any new notifications
  • The issue where the Battery fly-out text was truncated in certain languages has been fixed
  • When choosing background shuffle, the ability to shuffle backgrounds randomly instead of the order they appear in the folder has been enabled
  • Cortana can now be used with both local and Microsoft accounts
  • Issues with audio, including issues specific affecting Realtek audio devices has been fixed
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10547 is now available through Windows Update as part of the company's Fast Ring builds program, for registered Windows Insiders.
