Facebook Launches "Live" Video Streaming Service

Following the announcement of Instant Articles about three months ago, Facebook is taking on Periscope, Meerkat, and the recently launched Yahoo Livetext, with its all-new live video streaming service called Live, offering users a new way to connect and interact with their favorite public figures.

Live enables athletes, musicians, politicians and other influencers to take fans behind the scenes, host a Q&A, share announcements, connect and interact with them, and much more all in real time, alongside allowing fans to comment on, like or share the video while watching a live broadcast, as well as replay or watch the video later on the public figure’s Page.

According to Vadim Lavrusik, Product Manager "We’re excited to introduce a new way for you to connect and interact with your favorite public figures on Facebook — through live video" He continued "Live is an immersive and authentic way to connect with the public figures you care about, in real-time".

Live is now rolling out to public figures with verified pages through the Facebook Mentions app on iOS.
