Saurik Releases New Tweak To Unjailbreak iOS Devices

Following the launch of TaiG Jailbreak for iOS 8.4 on Windows as well as PP Jailbreak for iOS 8.4 on Mac, Jay Freeman, A.K.A. Saurik, who is best known for creating the Cydia application suite, has officially revealed a brand new tweak that allows users to Unjailbreak their iDevices.

Similar to iLEX RAT and Semi-Restore, two tools capable of Unjailbreaking iOS devices from iOS 4 all the way to iOS 6, Saurik's all-new Cydia Impactor is a device management utility that has the ability to remove and revert all changes made to the device and return it to Stock Apple iOS software without updating to a new version of iOS.

Although to use this tweak, you must first check:

  • Always back up your data
  • The device needs to be connected to the internet
  • The device should not be low on battery
  • Avoid trying to do anything with the device while Impactor is running
  • Normal behavior is that Impactor will show lots of text for several minutes and then the device will reboot
  • iOS will require you to re-activate the device after the reboot, which may require a SIM card and/or your iCloud password
  • You can use a jailbreaking tool to jailbreak the device again after running Impactor
Reminder: Cydia Impactor is still in Beta and only compatible with iOS 8.3 and iOS 8.4.

You can get Cydia Impactor for free via Cydia. Unfortunately, the tweak doesn't support the all-new iPod Touch 6th-Gen due to the lack
of OTA updates.
