Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 Insider Preview Build

Following the launch of Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10122 over a month ago, and the recently revealed Windows 10 Hero Desktop Image, Microsoft has officially released the latest build of Windows 10 for computers to Windows Insiders for download and testing.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10158 features:

  • Microsoft Edge: the branding is now included, alongside a new Home button, new customizations for the New Tab page, password and form-fill support, new dark theme, and the ability to import favorites/bookmarks from other browsers
  • General UX improvements and refinement: improved Tablet mode animations, improved support for Windows 8/8.1 apps and classic (Win32) apps in Tablet mode, when an app needs your attention, it will now flash in orange, and the progress animation bar in the Taskbar has been changed back to green and animating horizontally
  • Updates to Cortana: includes new dark theme color, integration of flights Tracking in e-mail
  • Cortana integration with Office 365: enhances Cortana’s ability to help you prepare for meetings, learn about the people you work with, and remind you where you need to be next so you won’t be late
  • Updated Photos app for Windows 10: the Photos app now supports animated GIFs, an added "Open with" button in the photo viewer, and inks to your saved photos, screenshots, and camera roll are now available on the Albums page
  • Snipping Tool: You can now set up to a 5-second delay to capture pop-up menus
The Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10158 is now available through Windows Update for users who are already running a previous Windows 10 build, as part of the company's Fast Ring builds program.
