Android M Developer Preview Hands-On

Following the announcement of Android M, Google has released an all-new build for its latest and greatest Android OS, Android M Developer Preview, to developers as well as anyone who want to see the latest features as well as changes coming to Android.

The first Android M Developer Preview features:
  • The phone dialer on the lockscreen has been replaced with a voice search
  • The app drawer now scrolls vertically with recent used app on top, and search support
  • Widgets now scrolls vertically with section for every app
  • Dedicated "Do Not Disturb" button on the notification center
  • Simplified volume controls
  • App permissions
  • Dark Theme option
  • System UI tuner that offers more customization
  • Improvement to Copy and Paste
Reminder: Some of the announced features at Google I/O aren't available yet such as Android Pay and Now On Tap, since this is the very first build of Android M.
