Google Releases New Android Wear Update

Following the release of Android 5.1, Google's latest and sweetest Android version yet, the company has officially revealed the latest update coming to Android Wear, Google's special Android OS designed for smartwatches and other wearable products.

The updated Android Wear includes new features as well as improvements such:

  • Always-on apps: allowing apps to stay visible as long as you need them
  • Wi-Fi support: enabling you to get notifications, send messages, and use all your favorite apps without the need of a nearby phone (although your phone must have data connection)
  • The ability to flick your wrist to scroll through the stream
  • Your apps and contacts are now just a tap away from the watch face
  • The ability to draw emojis directly on the watch screen
The new Android Wear update will be rolling out in the coming few weeks, starting with LG's latest smartwatch, the Watch Urbane.
