Swatch promises to fight Apple for the iWatch brand

Swatch will fight Apple in court to prevent it from naming its rumoured smartwatch the iWatch. It argues that the name could cause confusion with its own smartwatch, the iSwatch, and will seek to block the name in any countries that Apple applies to use it.

According to Swiss online newspaper Watson "We assess the likelihood of confusion as given, the marks are confusingly similar. In all countries where the mark is registered, we go against it."

Apple already registered the trademark in several countries, including Japan, Mexico and Turkey.

We'll see how that goes.
