Google acquires Word Lens to level-up Google Translate


Word Lens is an apps that allows you to use your smartphone’s camera to translate text to a language of your choice in real-time.

The app was first introduces back in December, 2010, and it took Google a very long time to notice it. Word Lens announced that they’ve officially been acquired by Google and Quest Visual says they’ll soon be incorporating their tech into Google Translate, hinting at a future update that will effectively level-up Google’s own service.

To celebrate, Quest Visual is offering Word Lens for free on Google Play and AppStore including all their language packs.
