ARM Expects $20 smartphone coming this year

Low-end smartphones are constantly getting cheaper, like the recent ones running Firefox OS are becomes a more viable choice and chip manufacturers contribute more to the industry.

ARM is saying now in a slide at their Tech Day that it believes a smartphone priced at $20 could only be months away.

Considering the price tag, don’t expect great things specs-wise. The phone will feature a single-core ARM Cortex-A5 CPU and EDGE data on the Android OS.

If ARM's expectations are true, more third-world countries will be able to connect to the Internet, which is never a bad thing.
